The chief executive of the Children's Centre says staff have been overwhelmed at support offered by members of the public, concerned the future of the charity is in jeopardy.
Just before Christmas the Centre revealed it had lost its bid to renew several children and families services contracts with the Department of Health and Social Care.
The child care contracts were awarded to St Christopher’s Fellowship, in a competitive tender process.
The organisation, an Isle of Man charity, currently operates care homes in the Island.
It's claimed around 60 jobs at the Children's Centre could be lost as a result of the changes.
South Douglas MHK David Cretney has asked for the awarding of the contracts to St Christopher's to be put on hold, while an online petition in support of the centre has received more than 550 signatures.
