Winning start for national team
The Isle of Man men’s hockey team made an excellent start to the County Championship in Portsmouth.
They won all three of their games on the opening day of the tournament.
Andy Whiting, Tom Burrows and Alex Bell grabbed the goals in an opening 3-2 victory over Bedfordshire.
The Island went onto defeat the combined RAF/Navy side 1-0, courtesy of an Alex Bell strike, and Whiting was the hero with a hat-trick as they rounded off the day with a comprehensive 3-0 success over Wiltshire.
