Joe Reid qualifies for European championships

Sub-1:48.00 time seals Glasgow place

Island athlete Joe Reid has qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow next month.

The 800m runner needed to beat a time of 1:48.00 at Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix today, a week after becoming a British champion.

Reid ran a time of 1:47.83 to secure qualification for the three-day competition in Scotland.

The European Athletics Indoor Championships take place from 1-3 March at the Emirates Arena.
