Island duo reach semi-finals of competition in the USA
Two Isle of Man cheerleaders have set a new national record whilst competing in the prestigious ICU World Championships.
Abby Vance and Caitlyn Hampson represented the Island in the Pom Doubles competition with the event held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida.
The pairing went on to reach the semi-finals and finish 28th in the standings with an overall score of 62.24.
This eclipses the previous Island record in Pom Doubles of 58.64 which was set in 2025 and where the Isle of Man finished in 33rd place.
Confirming the result, SportCheer Isle of Man says the performance 'reflects not only their athleticism and technical excellence, but also their commitment, professionalism, and the positive spirit with which they represent the Isle of Man', adding both Vance and Hampson have proven 'exceptional ambassadors' to the sport.
Separately, this year's Pom Doubles competition was won by China with the hosts, the USA finishing second and Japan completing the top three in third.
