Island side lose out in tough battle in Lancaster
The Isle of Man Women's Over-45's side suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Timperley during their latest contest in the England Hockey Masters Championships last weekend.
Competing in the Women's O45's Trophy at Lancaster University on Sunday, 16 November, the Island side found themselves three goals down at half-time and with a mountain to climb in the second period.
The job didn't get an easier in the second half as a clinical Timperley netted three more to take the game beyond their Island opponents.
The Manx squad did grab a late consolation, however as Ros Lynch converted a penalty stroke in the final few seconds to get the Islanders on the scoresheet.
Despite the result, the Isle of Man team's efforts are being described as a 'very spirited performance' against a 'very well-organised side.'
The loss means the Isle of Man Women's Over-45's will now drop into the EH Women's 045's Vase competition and return to action in the new year.
