Football: Premier league quartet keep up perfect starts

Castletown go top of Division 2 with back-to-back wins

Four Canada Life Men's Premier League sides maintained their perfect starts to the new Isle of Man football season following last night's midweek fixtures across the Island.

Following a 6-0 win to open their campaign last Saturday, Union Mills hammered last season's Division 2 champions, Colby by the same scoreline on Tuesday evening (1 September) to go top of the premier league standings on goal difference.

Elsewhere, defending top-flight champions, Peel thrashed St Mary's 8-0 to make it back-to-back wins in their opening two whilst Corinthians and St John's United also took respective wins to keep up their 100 per cent records.

Meanwhile, in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2, Castletown have gone top of the table in these very early stages after commanding 7-0 victory at Ayre United, meaning the southerners have made it two wins from two.

Also in Division 2, Gymns, Marown and Michael United claimed wins last night whilst Malew and Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.) played out a thrilling 4-4 draw.

The Manx football action continues this evening (2 September) with eleven matches penned in across both combination leagues.
