Douglas went down 22-14 at Didsbury Toc High in the sole rugby match involving Manx sides on Saturday.
Skipper Bryn Snellgrove pushed his side all the way in the Senior Vase encounter, scoring a try which he duly converted as Douglas trailed 12-7 at the break.
However, Didsbury extended their lead early in the second period and, despite a further try from Will Latta, converted again by Snellgrove, Douglas couldn't claw their way back.
