Commonwealth Games call-up 'absolutely wild', says Cain

She's replacing Sarah Astin who's withdrawn due to injury

An Isle of Man athlete who's received a late call-up for the 2026 Commonwealth Games says it's 'pretty wild' to think she'll be competing on one of the world's biggest stages.

Christa Cain is joining the Isle of Man athletics squad for the games in the Scottish city, replacing Sarah Astin who withdrew last week due to injury.

Already a proven competitor across longer distance races, Cain will step in to do the Women's 5,000m track race - a discipline in which she won the gold medal at the International Island Games in Orkney last year.

On the prospect of a debut appearance at the games, Cain adds it feels 'absolutely huge' to have the chance to compete at one of the highest levels you can as a Manx competitor:
