Candidate calls for local authority reform

The Isle of Man's local authorities need to be reformed to make them more effective.

That's the view of former Castletown commissioner Richard Ronan, who is contesting the single seat in the southern constituency in next month's general election.

The 48-year-old, who spent seven years on the town board, gave his thoughts on the matter to Manx Radio's John Moss (listen to audio file below):

Castletown will have a new MHK, following Tony Brown's decision to retire from politics after serving the constituency for 30 years.

At the moment it's a three-way contest, between Mr Ronan, David Pownall and Carol Quine.
