Legion's memorial plans win top prize
Plans for a First World War memorial garden have scooped the top grant of £12,000 in Tesco's 'Bags of Help' initiative.
The supermarket asked the Manx public to vote on the 'green space project' they deemed most worthy, over a three month period last year.
Intended as a 'living memorial' to those who died in the First World War, the Royal British Legion championed the plans as one of three local charities taking part in the scheme.
The garden is now set to be built in Onchan, in rememberance of the 1,261 Manx lives lost in the conflict.
Vice Chairman of the Legion Colonel Charles Wilson says he kept a close eye on the voting.
