Governor lays weath at war memorial

LG leads remembrance at St John's

The remembrance of Manx service personnel who lost their lives in the two world wars played an important part in today's ceremony.

His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozeny, accompanied by the Military Liaison officer, placed a wreath at the foot of the National War Memorial.

The monument was unveiled in 1923 by then governor Sir William Fry to commemorate those who died in the First World War, and later the Second World War.

Following this, the Last Post, played by the band of the Royal Air Force Regiment rang out across the site, before spectators and guests were invited to stand for a minute's silence.
