The World Tin Bath Championships return to Castletown today (4 July).

Now in their 55th year, the popular event is organised by the Castletown Ale Drinkers Society and features not only the famous tin bath races, but also snake racing and man-powered flight.

Castle Street, Thirtle Bridge and Bridge Street will be closed to traffic between 12:30pm and 6:30pm to both allow competitors to access the harbour and spectators to watch them in action.

Other roads in the area affected by the closures around the harbour are Bank Street, Back Hope Street, Victoria Road, Hope Street, Quayside and The Steps.

Bus Vannin has confirmed from Douglas, its buses will divert at the roundabout to run along the bypass, turning off at Arbory Road to Castle Rushen High School, from where they will head south departing at the time given in its timetable for Castletown Square - and vice versa for services coming up from the South.
