Farmers call for better visibility of Manx produce in supermarkets

Food security hot topic ahead of upcoming General Election

We should be duty bound to feed our own Island and Manx produce should feature more prominently in supermarkets on the Isle of Man.

Those are comments from local farmers who are calling for more to be done to increase the amount of Manx food and drink on shelves locally.

The Manx National Farmers' Union estimates just six percent of food sold on the Island is made here.

The organisation has met with a number of prospective MHKs to discuss the issue of food security ahead of next week's General Election.
