Treasury minister promises to look at VAT thresholds for businesses

Alex Allinson says he was constrained before Budget by ongoing talks with the UK

The treasury minister says he plans to look at the VAT thresholds for small businesses in the near future.

Currently, at the end of any month, a business has to pay VAT if the total value of taxable supplies in the previous 12 months is more than £90,000.

Speaking on Manx Radio's Budget Special, Alex Allinson says he was constrained in this Budget while waiting for agreements with the UK to be complete.

Now they are, he says he's in a position to look again at things like the thresholds:
