Experts are piecing together the circumstances which led to a 19-year-old student from Onchan losing his life in a road accident in Sheffield in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
According to the United Kingdom's Independent Police Complaints Commission, which has launched an investigation into the incident, Jamie Haslett died after being run over by a police patrol car in the city's Broad Lane.
The vehicle had been responding to a request for help from an ambulance, on an unrelated matter.
Jamie recently started the second year of a degree in Sport and Business Management at Sheffield Hallam University, and had previously been a pupil at St Ninian's High School.
One of the deputy head teachers there, Richard Miller, paid this tribute:
