Common, and highly contagious, in youngsters

Public Health has confirmed it doesn’t routinely recommend isolating children from childcare settings who are suffering from hand, foot and mouth disease.

The common, but highly contagious, condition is a viral illness which causes mouth ulcers and a rash or blisters on the hands, feet and sometime groin and buttocks.

It typically resolves within 7–10 days without specific treatment and is not notifiable.
