Fraught debate leaves questions unanswered

The Manx public will 'assume the worst' from government until a deal is offered to local authorities for the sale of Ramsey courthouse.

That's the assessment of Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker.

Vigorous debate ensued over issues surrounding the ongoing sale and valuation of the building in Tynwald yesterday, with Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey remaining forthright over his decision to put it on the market.

Afterwards, Mr Baker told Manx Radio there was 'no clear principle' used by the Department, and the social value of the courthouse had been largely ignored.

He says he's deeply concerned that so many questions have been left unanswered.
