Other aspects of overall scheme rejected, though
Ramsey commissioners have backed draft government proposals to place a flood wall along the town's quayside.
Local representatives met privately with the Department of Infrastructure in December to discuss a scheme to protect and redevelop the Ramsey area.
The department hasn't made a plan public yet, but it's understood to include a wall between East Quay and the Swing Bridge, then down to the Stone Bridge.
Commissioners chose to back the creation of flood defences and a seating/recreation area in a narrow vote.
But members could not support the overall design proposals, over fears about the loss of parking.
The authority also stressed it wants to maintain a working harbour, and wants the DoI to present a scheme to both the public and the Commission at the same time.
