Primary care professionals will ease pressures on GPs, says treasury minister

Comes after the relaunch of the self-referral pathway for physiotherapy patients

It's hoped increasing the accessibility of alternative primary care professionals will make it easier to get an appointment with a GP.

One of the aims of Manx Care's mandate for the coming year is to direct people to the right type of care in the first instance without needing a referral.

For example, the relaunch of its self-referral pathway for physiotherapy means patients can book an appointment without going to the doctors first.

The British Medical Association has suggested GPs should have no more than 25 patient contacts a day, but what is the actual picture?
