Laurence Skelly recognised in 2026 New Year Honours
The President of Tynwald says he was 'genuinely surprised and humbled' to learn he'd been awarded an OBE.
Laurence Skelly has received the accolade as part of the 2026 New Year Honours.
On Mr Skelly being granted the OBE, Government House says: 'Beyond his parliamentary duties, Mr Skelly has made significant and lasting contributions to Manx culture, heritage and community life.'
Mr Skelly told Manx Radio: "I was genuinely surprised and humbled to be nominated for this prestigious honour.
"In accepting it, I do so on behalf of Tynwald, which it is a huge privilege to serve as President. Serving the people as a politician is an honour in itself, and I see this recognition not as mine alone, but a reflection of all who serve Tynwald and people of the Isle of Man."
Five other Manx residents were recognised by His Majesty The King, Lord of Mann, in this year's honours.
