No sign of Aldi picking Island as 'priority' supermarket destination 

Retailer outlines locations for new outlets and Island doesn't feature

Aldi has announced where it wants to build new supermarkets over the next two years.

And the Isle of Man hasn’t featured.

The German discount retailer has pledged investment of £1.4 billion with plans to open 18 new outlets by the end of 2023.

Aldi has now confirmed its priority locations, for new stores, include:

• London – Kensington and Hackney
• South West – Penzance and Bath
• South East – Maidenhead and Worthing
• North West – Warrington and Bramhall
• North East – Newcastle Upon Tyne and South Shields
• East Midlands – Nottingham and Derby
• West Midlands – Birmingham and Warwick
• East of England – Cambridge and Brentwood
• Yorkshire and the Humber – Harrogate and York
• Wales – Cardiff and Chepstow
• Scotland – Clarkston and Cathcart

Earlier this month a spokesperson for Aldi told Manx Radio 'while there are towns and areas that don't have an Aldi, we’re committed to continue growing and make affordable, high-quality food accessible to all.'
