Strathallan redevelopment tabled
The Horse Tram Depot in Douglas could soon be demolished, in favour of a more modern replacement.
A planning application has been submitted to replace the existing building with brand new facilities.
The current Strathallan Depot dates back to 1902.
New proposals seek to erect a modernised space in which to store and maintain the trams, with offices on the first floor.
If approved, work could begin this summer.
Government representatives say the current facilities are in 'a considerable state of disrepair', and pledge that the proposals have been designed to replicate the original depot 'closely', taking the imminent development along Douglas promenade into account.
It's also hoped the changes will help prolong the life of the service in the future.
