Plans to refurbish Douglas station
The RNLI says improved lifeboats will soon be used across the Isle of Man - not just in Douglas.
It comes after the organisation submitted plans to demolish and rebuild the lifeboat station in the capital, and put a floating pontoon in Douglas harbour instead of the current slipway.
The current lifeboat will be replaced with a new Shannon-class vessel.
The new boat will be quicker, safer and easier to control, according to the RNLI.
