Passenger numbers fall year on year

However year to date figures are slightly up on last year

Passenger numbers at Ronaldsway fell by just over five percent in August compared with the same month last year.

A total of 53,321 passengers travelled through the airport during the month, down from 56,202 in August 2025, a decrease of 2,881 passengers.

Despite the monthly drop, overall passenger figures for the year remain slightly ahead of last year. More than 419,000 people have used the airport so far in 2026, an increase of 0.8 percent compared with the same point in 2025.

London Gatwick remained the airport's busiest route, carrying 14,577 passengers during August, up more than four percent on the previous year.

Liverpool also saw growth, with passenger numbers rising by 2.3 percent across services operated by EasyJet and Loganair.

The biggest decline was on the Manchester route, where passenger numbers fell by more than 22 percent year-on-year. Services to Birmingham, Edinburgh and London City also recorded lower figures.

EasyJet remained the airport's largest carrier, accounting for almost 53 percent of all passengers during the month, despite carrying around 2,500 fewer passengers than in August last year.

In cargo figures, general freight rose sharply, increasing by 46.5 percent to 1,465 kilograms. Mail volumes also increased slightly, up 1.1 percent to 18,610 kilograms.

Meanwhile, total aircraft movements were down by just over seven percent compared with August 2025.
