Post Office vice chair says issue was known about for a year
The Isle of Man Post Office says it does recognise the 'social value' that sub post offices provide – and will endeavour to maintain service where 'viable'.
However it's hit out at - what it calls - 'untruths in the media' following the announcement that the post office in Port St Mary was to close.
The local commissioners have expressed disappointment that a 'long term' solution 'was not offered' and the area's MHKs have also criticised the decision.
However post office vice chair Chris Thomas says he's surprised by their reaction as it's not a new issue:
