Graham Cregeen to attend public meeting
An MHK says his constituents are 'really concerned' about the potential reduction of postal services in Ballasalla.
A consultation is being held on the future of the counter in the village, after the subpostmaster announced he would step down at the end of his contract in March.
There are plans to install a self-service kiosk instead, with the post office board deciding it sees 'no future for a commercially viable counter-based offer in Ballasalla'.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Graham Cregeen will be attending a public meeting on the matter this month.
He fears losing the counter service would have a detrimental effect on the village:
The meeting is to be held at Ballasalla Village Hall on 17 January at 7pm.
The consultation with 'local stakeholders' was launched just before Christmas and has now been extended until 24 January, to ensure people have the chance to respond in full.
