Manx students heading to Cambodia

Ten-day trip for charity project

Students from Castle Rushen High School are heading to Cambodia early next month for what's described as a life-changing experience by organisers.

The Youth Motor Project, run by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, leads the annual trip.

It's in conjunction with the Manx charity Friends of the Cambodian Children’s Refuge Centre.

Fourteen students leave the Island on 6 February.

They will spend most of the 10-day trip at a school in Kandal Province, teaching English to students aged 12 to 19.

In addition, the Manx group will spend time learning about the history and culture of the country: visiting the Genocide Centre and Killing Fields, the royal palaces, Buddhist temples, markets, and the banks of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers.

They'll also travel to the north of the country to go to the temples of Angkor.
