Man hasn't paid fine for breaking Covid-19 rules

Case adjourned while fixed penalty notice settled

A Laxey man, given a fixed penalty for breaching coronavirus rules, could end up in court if he doesn’t pay the fine within two weeks.

Thirty-six-year-old David Lloyd Chambers of New Road is alleged to have broken the Island’s Covid-19 regulations on 17 May.

Magistrates at Douglas courthouse heard Chambers, who didn’t attend court, had been handed the fixed penalty by police but hadn’t yet paid it.

His case was adjourned until 22 October to give him time to pay.
