Plea after festival helps secure city status for Douglas
People are being encouraged keep Manx traditions going to avoid them from becoming forgotten.
That's the view of the chairperson of the Manx Competitive Music, Speech and Dance Festival.
It's more commonly known as The Guild and is one of the oldest running festivals on the Isle of Man having been in operation for 130 years.
It was also one of the reasons Douglas received city status earlier this month.
In a statement the UK Cabinet Office said The Guild, royal links to the Queen and urban regeneration were three reasons for the successful bid.
