Alex Allinson's attempt to set up citizens' jury into recreational cannabis rebuffed

Tynwald has reaffirmed its support for a report into reducing the harm caused by drugs and has rebuffed an attempt to set up a citizens' jury.

Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson had brought a motion to Tynwald asking for the panel to be set up to look into options for the regulated sale of recreational cannabis on the Isle of Man.

However Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson's amendment won support from the court instead.

It saw the court reaffirm support for a report into reducing the harm caused by drugs, note the Council of Ministers' plans to publish an action plan by the summer and note ongoing research into the impact of drugs.
