It looks likely the Isle of Man will go along with the UK when it comes to a so-called 'sugar tax'.
A Tynwald motion yesterday prompting debate was brought by Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson.
He asked that Tynwald support 'the principle of raising government revenue by taxing products with a high sugar content, and requires the government to publish its proposals during 2017'.
That was amended, replacing the word 'products' with 'soft drinks' - which was approved by the court.
Over the course of the debate, Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan made this announcement.
