Grants awarded to international charity projects with Island links

£2.5 million donated as part of International Development Policy

Grant funding has been awarded by the Manx government to seven international development projects in under-developed and conflict affected countries.

The move is in line with government's International Development Policy.

The annual funding totalling £2.5 million has been donated to reputable organisations to operate development projects and provide humanitarian aid.

Projects selected include soil and water conservation in Burundi and Rwanda being carried out by the charity Ripple Effect, and strengthening the livelihoods and resilience of 10,000 refugees in Uganda through the Seeds of Life Self-reliance project being carried out by Opportunity International UK.

A number of small grants have also been awarded to charities registered on the Island including the Pahar Trust Nepal, the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann Charitable Trust, the RNLI, Sand Dams Worldwide and the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development.
