Government department fined for GDPR breach

Home Affairs hit for not supplying personal data held

A government department has been fined for a repeated failure to supply personal data it held on an individual.

Information Commissioner Iain McDonald has imposed a fine of £12,250 on the Department of Home Affairs for the offence.

It's the first time such a penalty has been used since GDPR was introduced in 2018.

Mr McDonald says everyone has a fundamental right of access to personal data and believes this will serve as a warning to data holders:-
