Drivers of modified cars warned against anti-social behaviour

Police 'will step up enforcement'

Police are warning drivers of modified cars to consider their actions, after reports of some loitering late at night and revving engines.

Several complaints have been made by Douglas residents near Chester Street car park and on South Quay about anti-social driving.

Officer say the 'behaviour of a minority of these drivers has caused distress and upset over a long period of time.'  

Modified car groups have been contacted and asked to warn members against this behaviour, or enforcement will be stepped up.

It's not stopped the issues at Chester Street and South Quay, and police say cars could be seized for testing as they seek to actively enforce laws on vehicle maintenance.

Two drivers are currently subject of the prosecution process for excessively loud/modified exhaust systems and other offences.
