Doctor ordered to keep the peace after CPR dispute

43-year-old was performing lifesaving first aid

A doctor from Baldrine has been bound over to keep the peace after a pub manager told him to stop performing CPR on his father.

Forty-three-year-old Lee Keegan, and his son Louis Thomas Keegan, of Clay Head Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

Dr Keegan faced one count of breaching the peace, and his son was charged with disorderly behaviour on licensed premises, after the incident in Jaks on 2 February.

When his father suffered a seizure and collapsed in the bar, at 6.30pm, Dr Keegan began lifesaving first aid but was told to stop by a staff member.

He responded angrily and police were called after he and his son began swearing.

Magistrates told both men they had every sympathy with their situation after what had been an extremely traumatising experience.

Both were bound over the keep the peace for a year and all charges were withdrawn by the prosecution.
