Four offences denied - case adjourned for verdict

The trial of an Island man accused of hacking data from his former employer continues at Douglas Courthouse.

John Henry Griffin, 48, denies four offences alleged to have been committed whilst he worked at RL360 in Braddan.

Mr Griffin, of Elm Bank in Glen Vine, left RL360 in January 2017 - at the time, his prosecution argued, intending to pursue legal action against the firm. 

He is accused of carrying out a 'series of hacks' to obtain secure information for his own use, including confidential emails.

Representing himself in court yesterday (Tue), Mr Griffin alleged his former bosses planned to conceal evidence relating to a separate matter, and had sought to silence him by having him prosecuted.

Summing up, the prosecution denied Mr Griffin's case was one of a 'crusading whistleblower', and instead of a man who 'knew perfectly well' he was breaking the law.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes adjourned the case to a date to be set, when she will deliver a verdict.
