Daughter confesses after cash found hidden inside car
A Liverpool woman has had money laundering allegations dropped after her daughter admitted cash in a hidden compartment in their car was hers.
Seventy-five-year-old Sheila May Starkey, of Mark Street, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.
She'd been jointly charged with attempting to remove more than £92,000 in criminal cash from the Isle of Man on 22 March.
However the court heard there was no evidence to link Mrs Starkey to the money.
The court heard Mrs Starkey arrived with her daughter on the Island, for a Mother's Day treat, staying at a hotel.
However as they got back on the ferry police and customs officers searched their car and found bundles of cash behind the central console.
The prosecutor withdrew the charge against Mrs Starkey and said her daughter would be sentenced in the Court of General Gaol Delivery in May.
