Tribute to Mark Buckley

Tribute has been paid to a Scottish rider killed in an accident at Saturday's North West 200.

Mark Buckley from Loch Lomond was an experienced road racing rider having competed in a number of TTs since his debut in 2006.

The 35 year-old came off his bike during the Superstock Race and died later in hospital.

Director of the North West 200, Mervyn Whyte, said the organisers were ‘devastated’ by the news.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jayne and we extend our deepest sympathies to the entire family circle,’ Mr Whyte added.

He said the organisers had worked hard to make safety a priority during the races and that the accident had happened on a high speed section of the course.

No other riders were involved in the incident.
