Shooting: Kelly and Cross shine in skeet league

Fourth round of series and handicap cup decided at Meary Veg

The fourth round of the Colin Bowen Memorial English skeet league was held at Meary Veg Santon with 24 competitors taking part in near ideal conditions which also had the Wilf Cannell Handicap cup up for grabs and it was also a selection shoot for next year's Island games.

The leader after the first round was Michael Cross with 24 followed by Giulio Fabrizio, Joe Faragher, Rob Corlett, Jeff Corkill, Peter Kelly and Mike Whitehead on 23.

After the second round was completed, Mike Whitehead was in third place in C class on 38 with Les Devlin taking second place on 41 but winning C class with 42 points was Brian Kelly. 

Ted Kermeen was third in B class on 45 with Rob Corlett taking second place on 47, but winning B class with 48-points courtesy of having a straight in his second round was Giulio Fabrizio. 

We had a tie for second place in A class between Jeff Corkill and junior Joe Faragher on 47 but winning A class and also high gun on the day and a straight in his second round was Michael Cross on 49.

Results for the R W Cannell Handicap Cup - In first place with 57 points was Brian Kelly with Rob Corlett second on 55 and Giulio Fabrizio and Ted Kermeen in equal-third place on 54.

The winner of the selection shoot was Michael Cross on 97 followed by junior Joe Faragher on 96 and Giulio Fabrizio third on 94.

Next week is the second round of the Suntera Global Sporting league.
