Archery: Two new English records for Sleight

Island archer wins two classes in latest UK competition

Isle of Man archer, Lesley Sleight has set two new English records whilst involved UK competition last weekend.

Taking on the Scottish and Open Indoor Flint Championships at Napier University on Sunday (1 November), the Island claimed gold medals across two different events.

First during the morning session, Sleight set a new English benchmark and claimed top spot in the Adult Female Longbow competition.

Separately, Lesley already holds the Veteran record, breaking the world record for the flint round in 2023 on her way to becoming veteran world champion.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon events on Sunday, Sleight added to her success by claiming Open Championship gold and another English record, this time in the Adult Female Traditional Recurve category.

Both of Sleight's new English records are still to be ratified.
