After years of lobbying by marshals, fans and riders, the rain flag is to be reintroduced at the 2012 TT and Manx Grand Prix meetings.
New clerk of the course for the TT Gary Thompson spent many hours with marshals during practice and race week at the MGP, during which the idea was discussed.
Mixed weather at both this year's meetings, with rain falling on certain parts of the mountain course while the remainder of the circuit was dry, seems to have convinced the organising ACU Events Limited to make the change.
