Island players help side to big FA Youth Cup win
A quartet of young Isle of Man players were part of the Tranmere Rovers side which claimed a comprehensive victory in their FA Youth Cup first round tie last night (27 October).
Local competitors Liam Blake, Dylan Bullock, Preston Cleator and James Lowther all featured for the Wirral-based side as they emegred convincing 6-0 winners over Newcastle Blue Star on Tuesday evening.
Having started from the bench, Blake made a telling contribution at the attacking end, scoring Tranmere's sixth and final goal during the contest at Prenton Park.
Elsewhere, Bullock, Cleator and Lowther were all part of the starting XI and completed the full 90 minutes.
Separately, Tranmere Rovers' other goals on the night came courtesy of a Seb McAuley double and strikes from Ewan Duncan, Naod Tewolde and Alfie Casey.
Back in May this year, Blake, Bullock, Cleator and Lowther were confirmed as four of five Isle of Man players selected to join Tranmere Rovers College for the forthcoming campaign.
The other Manx athlete who is part of it, Alex Bolton, was not part of last night's squad.
