Repairs to start in April 2017
Peel Football Club has confirmed the pitch at Douglas Road will be out of use for the rest of the season.
Sand put on the playing surface over the summer was found to contain glass particles.
The westerners have appointed a sports ground specialist firm to appoint and oversee contractors who will remove the top layer of soil and grass.
New soil will be relayed with grass seed but this process can't take place until April next year.
The Club says work on the grandstand improvements will continue over the coming weeks.
Peel also wish to thank everyone who has helped out so far to allow them to continue playing and they remain committed to events on and off the pitch.
