Just under 40 Manx runners are competing in today's (Sunday) Virgin London Marathon.
Memories of last week's tragic events in Boston will be fresh in people's minds and competitors will be wearing black armbands or ribbons.
The contingent from here includes the Island's fastest marathon runner Ed Gumbley, the quickest in London Mike Garrett, Richard Radcliffe and Paul Curphey who are aiming for their 20th finishes - as well as others trying to raise money for charity and a sense of personal achievement.
And one Manxman aims to make history - Darren Kennish:
Powerlifting: Isle of Man to begin Commonwealth championships campaign
Football: Island club wants community to design new crest and kit
Athletics: Island athletes shine at British Masters
