Largest event on the 8-ball calendar spans three days
The largest event of the Manx 8-Ball Pool calendar takes place over three days this weekend, from tonight until Sunday night at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas.
More than 60 players of all ages and abilities will compete to be crowned champion of the 'FA Cup of Pool'.
Run by the Isle of Man Pool Players' Association, each match is contested over a first-to-nine-frame format.
Players are given a handicap based on ability by the governing committee, so some will be given considerable head starts.
The reigning champion is Tommy Miller, who won last year's event despite having the lowest handicap possible of zero.
He defeated Tony Kaneen 9-4 in the final last season, after Kaneen's handicap gave him a 4-0 head start.
