Competing in the under-23 race at the Olympic venue at Hadleigh Park in Essex, he recovered from a second lap crash to fight his way through the field.
In high temperatures, he recorded a time of 1 hour, 30 minutes and 7 seconds - 4 minutes and 56 seconds behind the winner Iain Paton of Team Wiggins.
Liam Mazzone raced in only his second national event in the junior male race and finished 23rd.
