Mark Cavendish has made a winning return to the Tour of Britain.
The Manxman, who last rode the Tour in 2007 when he won the opening two stages of the race, triumphed in the 170.3-kilometre first stage from Peebles to Dumfries yesterday (Sunday).
After emerging from a bunch sprint in Dumfries, Cavendish paid special tribute to the support from the crowd.
Today the competitors race from Kendal to Blackpool.
