
Jones and Cubbon also victorious during weekend races in the north
Local endurance athlete Christa Cain and visiting competitor Stephen Campbell were among the top displays at the 2025 Isle of Man Marathon and Half-Marathon championships in the north of the Island yesterday (10 August).
In a busy half-marathon field of more than 500 participants, Campbell of Liverpool Harriers & AC took the men's and overall victory in a time of one hour, 14 minutes and 45 seconds.
Finishing second overall on the way to winning the women's race was Cain who set a new women's course record and personal best of one hour, 15 minutes and 16 seconds.
Completing the men's half-marathon top three were David Bignell (one hour, 17 minute and 12 seconds) in second and Joel Smith (one hour, 17 minutes and 27 seconds) in third.
Elsewhere, Dawn Atherton (one hour, 28 minutes and 27 seconds) finished second in the women's contest whilst Clara Isaac (one hour, 29 minutes and 49 seconds) rounded out the female top three.
Taking place at the same time was the full marathon event which saw Samuel Jones of Manx Fell Runners take top spot overall and in the men's race, crossing the line in two hours, 41 minutes and 30 seconds.
Fellow Manx Fell Runners competitor Katherine Cubbon won the women's marathon competition in three hours, 33 minutes and 28 seconds.
Both races also formed the first round of this year's No Rest for the Wicked series which features six rounds of racing in as many days.
The latest round - the Peel Hill Race organised by Western AC - is taking place tonight (11 August) from 7pm.
