That’s how former Island resident, Manx racing driver Alex Lloyd has described British driver Dan Wheldon, who was killed yesterday (Sunday) after a crash involving 15 cars at the Las Vegas Indy 300.
Lloyd, who was last year named rookie of the year at the IndyCar Series Championship, says the loss of Wheldon is one of the saddest days of his life.
Lloyd was one of the drivers caught up in the back-end of the crash with marshals helping him from his car as it went up in flames.
