Waves to affect coastal roads during high tides on Saturday
A yellow weather warning has been issued for coastal overtopping throughout most of tomorrow. (29 March)
Ronaldsway Met Office says strong south to south-westerly winds coupled with high spring tides are set to create large waves and lead to overtopping of sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades.
The warning is in place between 9am Saturday morning and 1:30am on Sunday. (30 March)
The waves will be at their highest for a couple of hours around the time of high tide tomorrow morning (11:11am) and tomorrow evening (11:30pm).
The areas most at risk in the morning are Shore Road, Rushen, Castletown Promenade, Central and Northern parts of Douglas Promenade, and to a lesser extent Laxey and Ramsey Promenades.
The wind will then turn to the west or northwest tomorrow evening, leading to Fenella Beach in Peel and Peel Promenade being most at risk.
